Join us on our new and exciting Sonora Resort Grizzly Bear tour....
Way West Water Taxi has teamed up with Sonora Resort and the Homalco First Nation to offer you the Grizzly Bear viewing tour of a lifetime, including lunch at the five star Sonora Resort.
Departing from Discovery Harbour Marina, in Campbell River, the voyage to the grizzly bear viewing is an hour and a half water taxi ride through the breathtaking Discovery Islands to the pristine waters of Bute Inlet. Once at the Orford Bay dock, your knowledgeable Homalco grizzly bear guide will take you on a short bus tour through the pristine forests down to the river bed and viewing towers. The bear viewing towers are strategically placed for optimum sightings and breathtaking photo opportunities.
The grizzly bears congregate on the rivers at the beginning of September and stay through the fall, when the river is rich with spawning salmon. From the various grizzly bear viewing towers, you will be able to watch these magnificent creatures as swim and fish at the river's edge, preparing themselves and their cubs for winter.
After a memorable experience on the Orford River, Way West Water Taxi will take you to world renowned Sonora Resort for a three course lunch, prepared by Executive Chef Terry Pichor.
We encourage you to take along a bag to protect your camera gear from rain or salt-water spray as well please dress in layers as it can be chilly up Bute Inlet. Please bring snacks and be sure to have breakfast before you leave on your adventure. This is a once in a life-time opportunity to see the elusive West Coast Grizzly in its natural habitat.
